The following is a list of current statutes or legislation pending in various federal and state jurisdictions relating to EDR devices. To date, virtually all states with statutes or legislation that have addressed the issue have allowed for the retrieval of EDR data from motor vehicles, although the conditions under which the retrieval may be legally conducted can vary from state to state. Consent from the vehicle’s owner or a court order is generally required.*
